Potassium Sorbate

Potassium sorbate is a commonly used, mild skincare preservative that helps prevent the growth of mold, yeast, and fungi, thereby prolonging a product’s shelf life. Frequently chosen as a gentler alternative to parabens, it works effectively at concentrations of 1% or below—especially in water-based formulas—and is generally regarded as safe for sensitive skin.

Potassium sorbate is not a full spectrum preservative and requires the use of another preservative (such as Sodium Benzoate) to provide full protection against mold, yeast, fungi and bacteria is a product.
